Day 1 – Understanding the Boardroom

This is a journey and an opportunity to network and the day starts with creating a safe space for learning, by connecting with self and connecting with others with the Board Coach. The next session uses a conceptual framework to explore the context and dynamics of the Boardroom. This is followed by a panel discussion about the roles and responsibilities in the boardroom with seasoned women board members sharing their experiences. The last session for the day is a critical component for any board director, that of self-awareness – when we become aware of ourselves we choose between responding or reacting in the Boardroom.  The learning continues with  reflective practices in between the monthly sessions to embed awareness and learning.

Day 2 – Boardroom Dynamics and navigating Board Culture

The focus of day 2 is on Boardroom dynamics and Board Culture. The day starts with exploring the current status of women in the Boardroom and the impact of women directors in companies and organisations. We then explore boardroom dynamics in more detail and discuss various approaches to navigating difficult Boardroom conversations.  After lunch, participants have an immersive experience by exploring a Boardroom Dilemma as part of understanding boardroom context, fiduciary responsibilities and boardroom dynamics, facilitated by seasoned Boardvisory board directors. The afternoon continues with a panel discussion featuring women directors sharing their personal boardroom experiences.  The day concludes with a practical session on self-awareness and how to be a more effective non-executive director in the boardroom.

Day 3 – Mapping your journey to the Boardroom

Our final day together is about mapping your journey to the Boardroom. The day starts with an immersive experience exploring a Boardroom Dilemma, facilitated by seasoned Boardvisory board directors.  The next session explores the IODSA’s Director competency framework™, how to prepare a Board CV,  preparing for the Board interview and understanding how to add value to the Board. After lunch, participants continue with an immersive practical experience in noticing biases, practising listening skills and networking skills. The final session of the programme focuses on personal development to prepare participants for their individual journeys to the boardroom using the Boardvisory framework ™ of self-awareness and reflection which concludes the Women on Boards Foundation Programme© .
